Titan Cement brings 0.2Mta plant online in Uzbekistan

Titan Cement has commenced production at a new cement works in Karauzyak, Karakalpakstan in Uzbekistan. The 0.2Mta plant represents an investment of UZS10.6bn and is expected to employ 200.

Uzbekistan: Akhangarancement output up 5.3% in 1H2016

Akhangarancement has announced that its cement output rose by 5.3 per cent YoY to 918,800t in the first half of 2016, according to reports from the Trend news agency. Sales also rose by a similar amount, reaching 920,825t in 1H2016 – an increase of 5.1 per cent – while clinker output grew more quickly, rising by 11.7 per cent to 662,295t. In addition to producing for the domestic market, Akhangarancement exports to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.

Russia: demand set to fall by up to 12% in 2016

Demand for cement in Russia may drop 10-12 per cent in 2016, according to a representative of Moscow-based Eurocement Group. "As concerns the cement demand forecast in Russia, we assume that the decline may remain in the same range as in 2015: in the vicinity of 10-12 per cent for 2016," the representative told the Interfax news agency. Ahangarancement, part of the Eurocement Group, produced 161,000t of cement and 119,822t of clinker during October 2015. The Uzbek producer shipped 157,939t of cement to consumers, which is six per cent more compared to the targeted volumes volumes, UzDaily reported.

The Turkish Dal Engineering Group will commission a new 1.5Mta cement plant in the Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan by late 2017, a representative from the country's Ministry of Economy told Trend News Agency. Chinese cement producer Shangfeng Cement Co Ltd announced Tuesday to raise no more than CNY1.5bn (US$235.78m) via private placement for overseas expansion. According to the State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the construction materials industry produced goods worth UZS2.1098trn (US$427m) in January-June period of the current year, which is 11.3 per cent more than in January-June of 2014. Ahangarancement JSC, part of the Eurocement Group, produced 400,500t of cement in the first quarter of 2015, according to data released by its parent company. In the reporting period, the plant produced 242,489t of clinker. Shipments over the Jan-March 2015 period reached 388,397t, exceeding the target figure by 11 per cent.
