On Friday, 13 October the second line of the Las LLanadas plant in Trujillo, Venezuela, was commissioned, increasing the cement works’ capacity by 0.5Mta to 1.35Mta. Venezuela expects to export 0.3Mt of cement in 2017

In 2017 Venezuela’s cement industry forecasts cement exports of 0.3Mt, around five per cent of the country’s total planned production of 6Mt, according to the President of the Federación Bolivariana de Construcción, Marco Tulio Díaz. He added that part of the output of the cement plants is directed to Misión Vivienda, the government’s housing programme.

Venezuelan cement producers have manufactured around 112,000t of cement in May, according to El Mundo or some 16 per cent of the forecast year total. Industria Venezolana de Cemento (Invecem) reported an output of 52,522 while Venezolana de Cementos (Vencemos) produced 42,200t of its planned 266,000t. Venezuelan President, Nicolas Maduro, has inaugurated a new line at the San Sebastian de los Reyes cement plant, owned by Industria Venezolana de Cemento (Invecem). The new line will increase Type I cement production by 1Mta in the country, helping to supply cement to infrastructure projects and the Gran Misión Vivienda housing programme. The Sino-Venezuelan project represents an investment of US$168m.
