Vietnam cement exports fall 17.2% YoY in 9M16

In September Vietnam’s clinker and cement exports fell 0.3 per cent to 1.15Mt when compared with August but climbed 3.5 per cent to US$48.16m, according the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade. According to a Ghanaian news source, Dangote Cement is hoping to expand into the Asian market over the next decade. It is reported that the company plans to launch in southeast Asia and Latin America once it is able to consolidate its operations in Africa. According to the Ministry of Construction, Vietnam's cement sales reached 55.25Mt for the period January-September 2016. No YoY comparative figures were given. Cement and clinker exports from Vietnam to Bangladesh market in the first eight months of 2016 reached US$94.20m worth, accounting for 26 per cent of total export value. Cement consumption in Vietnam will this year reach 60Mt, while 15.5-17Mt of cement and clinker will be exported, claims Vietnam's Cement Association Chairman, Nguyen Quang Cung. Loesche has won an order to supply two cement mills for a new line at Xuan Thanh Cement’s plant in Hà Nam in northern Vietnam.
