JSC Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) and North Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Bac A Bank) will lend a combined VND3.15trn (US$143.5m) to construction a new cement plant in the central province of Nghe An. Work is underway to commission a Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) manufacturing plant for Holcim Vietnam to process solid footwear production waste from the country’s main shoe factory. Yen Binh Cement JSC reported revenues of VND278bn (US$12.74m) in the first half of this year, thanks to its expanding markets. In the period, the firm sold 308,000t of cement and exported 480,000t of clinker, fulfilling 40 per cent of the whole-year target. Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem), the country’s leading state-owned cement producer, said its cement and clinker sales slipped 0.5 per cent to 10.73Mt in the first half of 2015. Vietnam: Song Lam project 'facing financial difficulties'

The Vissai Cement Group, which is building the 12,000tpd Song Lam Cement Plant, has announced that ground clearance has already reached about VND240bn (US$11m). Vietnam’s cement sales rose six per cent YoY to 34.16Mt in the first half of this year, meeting 47.4 per cent of the year’s plan, the Vietnam Building Material Association under the Ministry of Construction said. Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister, Hoang Trung Hai, has agreed to allow Nghi Son Cement Corp to continue the pilot import of fly ash as material for its cement production. The deputy PM earlier agreed to allow Nghi Son Cement Corp to import a volume not exceeding 200,000tpa of fly ash in the 2015-2016 period. Vietnam expected first-half output up 10.5%

Vietnam is estimated to have produced 32.1Mt of cement in the first half of this year, up 10.5 per cent  from a year ago, the government-run General Statistics Office said. In June alone, production totalled 6Mt, up 26.8 per cent YoY. Vietnam's Ministry of Construction expects a four per cent YoY rise in cement and clinker sales in 2015 to 74Mt, comprising 53Mt of domestic sales and exports of 20Mt.
