Vietnamese producer targets new export markets

La Hien Cement JSC, a subsidiary of the Vietnam National Coal Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin),  is seeking new export markets in Asia and Africa, an executive of the company said. Vietnam rises 9% in first five months

Vietnam is estimated to have produced 26.6Mt of cement during January-May 2015, up nine per cent from a year ago,  the government-run General Statistics Office said. In May alone, output amounted to 6.3Mt. During the five month period Vietnam produced 20.3Mt of cement, compared to an earlier estimate of 19.9Mt, according to the office’s revised figure. FLSmidth has received an order worth approximately EUR100m (DKK750m) from the Vietnamese cement producer Xuan Than Group for the supply of a complete cement plant with a capacity of 12,000tpd. Bangladesh, Indonesia, the Philippines and Taiwan remained among major importers of Vietnamese clinker and cement in the first four months of this year, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade said. State-owned Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem), the country’s leading cement producer, said it sold about 2.24Mt of cement and clinker in April, down 3.1 per cent from a year ago. Bangladesh, Indonesia and Taiwan remained among the largest importers of Vietnamese clinker and cement in the first quarter of this year, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade. Bangladesh accounted for the largest amount with 1.83Mt of cement worth US$70.13m, followed by Indonesia with 828,317t worth US$37.1m and Taiwan ranked third with 272,396t worth US$11.71m. Vietnam Jan-April output climbs 5.3% YoY

Vietnam produced 19.9Mt of cement in the first four months of this year, up 5.3 per cent from a year ago, including 5.9Mt in April, the government-run General Statistics Office said. Despite Semen Gresik and Semen Padang both posting a fall in sales volumes in 1Q15, PT Semen Indonesia is pushing ahead with its expansion plans. Ha Tien 1 Cement JSC (HT1) said its net profit jumped to VND250.36bn (US$11.64m) in the first quarter of this year, from VND2bn in the same period of 2014, thanks to an increase in financial incomes and a decease in financial costs.
