Vicem announces 7% sales increase

Vietnam’s leading cement producer, Vicem, has announced a 6.7 per cent YoY increase in sales of clinker and cement to 9.2Mt for the first four months of 2018, according to Vietnam News. Vicem Hoang Mai Cement receives approval to construct plant

Despite issuing a request to relocate last year, authorities of Vietnam’s Nghe An province have now granted approval for Vicem Hoang Mai Cement JSC to develop its Hoang Mai 2 facility in the area, according to Viet Nam News. Therefore, the company will construct the plant in the originally intended location of Hoang Mai 2 industrial park, Quynh Vinh commune. Once fully operational, the plant will have a 0.92Mta clinker capacity and a capability to produce 1.15Mta of cement.

FiCo Tay Ninh Cement to begin constructing second line

FiCo Tay Ninh Cement JSC (TAFiCO) will commence construction of the second line at its plant in Tanh Hoa, Tay Ninh province, on 15 April. The project represents a total investment of VND4800bn (US$210.6m) and will use European equipment. The kiln has been designed with a 4000tpd clinker capacity, which can be upgraded to 5000tpd in the future. The project is scheduled for completion in 2020.

In February 2018 Vietnam exported 2.6Mt of cement, representing a hike of 30 per cent YoY, according to Vietnam’s Ministry of Construction. Domestic cement consumption rose 11 per cent YoY to 5Mt. For the first two months of 2018, nearly 18.6Mt of cement were sold, including 5.5Mt exported, representing a rise of 121 per cent when compared with January-February 2017.
