Vietnamese prices could rise in September

Vietnamese cement producers may increase prices this month as a result of the increased demand seen in the construction season, according to the Department of Price Management under the Vietnamese Ministry of Finance. However, the prices of popular cement products, such as PCB30 and PCB40, remained stable in August. Vicem affiliates are currently supplying the two types of cement at a price range between VND1-1.47m/t (US$42.9-63/t), depending on the product and specific producer.

Vicem sees Jan-Aug sales up 12% YoY

State-owned Vietnam Cement Industry Corp (Vicem) reported cement and clinker sales of 18.88Mt in the first eight months of this year. This represents an increase of 11.5 per cent when compared with 8M17. Clinker production from the company’s cement plants also increased by six per cent to 13.43Mt while in terms of cement, output rose 6.3 per cent to 15.24Mt. ThaiGroup receives land for Minh Tam plant construction

The People’s Committee in Binh Phuoc, Vietnam, has decided to hand over 430,612m 2 of land to ThaiGroup JSC for the construction of the Minh Tam cement plant. ThaiGroup initiated the project in early-2017 by acquiring it from Mien Dong JSC, which was facing financial difficulties. Vietnamese exports of cement and clinker soared to 2.251Mt in July 2018, up 61 per cent YoY. Vietnam's Ministry of Construction has agreed with Cong Thanh Group's proposal to invest in a second grinding unit in Thanh Hoa province. According to the government's plan for the country's cement industry in 2011-20 with a vision to 2030, new cement projects must be developed alongside the same clinker capacity. Vietnam’s cement and clinker exports surged 63.2 per cent to 17.65Mt and 73 per cent to US$656.3m in the first seven months of 2018, according to the country’s General Department of Customs. Around 26.9 per cent of exports were shipped to Bangladesh, Vietnam’s largest cement and clinker export market. SCG Vietnam reports 20% revenue increase in 1H18

Siam Cement Group (SCG) Vietnam has announced a 20 per cent surge in revenue to VND14.53trn (US$631.74m) in the first half of the year. Total cement consumption in Vietnam increased to 5.812Mt in June, representing a YoY rise of 126 per cent and a MoM fall of nine per cent, according to the Vietnam National Cement Assocation (VNCA).
