Long Thanh Cement receives approval for capacity upgrade

The Vietnamese Ministry of Construction has approved Long Thanh Cement JSC’s plans to raise the capacity at its facility in Tan Tao, Ha Nam, from 0.91Mta to 2.3Mta. The Ministry also permitted the company to change the name of the unit to Long Thanh cement plant, according to Viet Nam News. The plant was constructed at an initial investment of VND1.3trn (US$56.52m) has a clinker capacity of 2500tpd.

Vietnamese authorities enforce environmental control

Authorities in Quang Ngai province, Vietnam, have threatened to shut down a plant in Binh Dong Commune if its management does not improve air quality and dust emissions, according to Viet Nam News. Vicem reports 10% sales increase in 1H18

Vietnam’s Vicem has reported a 10.1 per cent YoY increase in cement and clinker sales for 1H18, with the total 14.7Mt including 11.74Mt of exports. Additionally, the company’s cement and clinker output rose 8.5 per cent and 6.4 per cent to 10.15Mt and 11.56Mt, respectively. Former Vicem general director dismissed from executive comittees

Tran Viet Thang, former general director of the Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem), has been dismissed as member of the Executive Committee of the Central Businesses’s Party Unit and member of the Executive Committee of Vicem's Party unit. Vietnamese consumption rises 30% YoY in June

Vietnamese cement consumption has increased 30 per cent YoY to 8.71Mt in June, according to the Construction Materials Department of the Ministry of Construction. Approximately 6.91Mt was sold domestically (up 29 percent YoY), while 1.8Mt was exported (up 35 per cent YoY). Consumption in the country rose 25 per cent YoY in the Jan-June 2018 period, rising to 51.42Mt. Exports reached 15.42Mt in the six-month period, meeting 85.6 per cent of the target volume for the year.

Vietnamese cement producers have sold 8.71Mt in June, up 30 per cent YoY, said the Vietnam Building Material Association. Domestic demand reached 6.91Mt, representing a 29 per cent increase when compared with June 2017, including 2.18Mt sold by Vietnam Cement Industry Corp (Vicem).
