The Philippines’ Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has imposed duties on cement imports from Vietnam for five years. September saw 190,083t of cargo shipped through the Port of Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA, bringing the total cargo shipments to 1.3Mt for the 2022 shipping season.  Limestone and cement were again the top cargos moving through the port in September with 72,453t of domestic limestone imported and 45,936t of cement imported. DTI increases anti-dumping duties on Vietnamese imports

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has slapped provisional anti-dumping duties as high as 32 per cent on specific Portland cement brands from Vietnam to the Philippines, as these were found to be causing "serious injury" to local cement manufacturers. Rock Hard Cement to temporarily close operations

Rock Hard Cement, a Trinidad-based cement importer, is expected to close its operations for one month from Monday. The company has attributed the closure to the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s new policy which went into effect on 1 January. Uzbekistan has resumed the import of cement after the goverment’s 22 May resolution, reports Central Asia News. On 23 April the country had temporarily suspended the import of cement due to the coronavirus pandemic. The domestic cement industry of the Philippines has reported a 64 per cent increase in imports during the first quarter of 2019. Egyptian cement exports declined in value to US$19m in the first two months of 2019 compared with US$23m of the year-ago period, according to the Export Council for Building Materials (ECBM). In February alone, exports fell 11.1 per cent YoY to US$8m from US$9m.
