Indonesian cement exports see 119% YoY rise in 5M21

While cement exports from Indonesia decreased from 1.2Mt in March and April to 1Mt in May, the January-May 2021 volume saw a 119 per cent YoY rise to 5.69Mt, according to the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI).     Around half of exports were shipped to Bangladesh while China accounted for an offtake of 740,531t, or 13 per cent, in the first five months of 2021. Vietnam’s total cement and clinker sales expanded by 0.9 per cent YoY in 2020 to 97.5Mt, according to FiinGroup. Of this total, domestic cement consumption was 62.1Mt, declining by 5.6 per cent YoY. Cement sales in Dominican Republic decline 5% in 2020

Cement sales in the Dominican Republic fell by five per cent to 4,446,706t in 2020 from 4,703,347t in 2019, according to the country’s cement association, Adocem, in its newly-published 2020 annual report. The Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) of Pakistan has released cement export and production data for the July 2020-May 2021 (11 months) and July 2020-April 2021 (10 months) periods, respectively. Peruvian cement producers dispatched 1.062Mt of cement in May 2021, representing a 228 per cent increase YoY from a low base due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Spanish cement consumption increased 16.9 per cent to 1,333,508t in May 2021, according to Oficemen. Iranian cement consumption in May 2021 reached 5.78Mt. This represents a 28.4 per cent MoM increase from 4.5Mt in April 2021. Cement dispatches in Vietnam reached 6.551Mt in April 2021, up 16 per cent YoY, according to the Vietnam Cement Association (VNCA). VICEM reported a 17 per cent YoY rise in sales to 2.26Mt while its affiliated companies saw a six per cent YoY uptick to 1.661Mt.
