Preliminary data and market estimates gathered by Sindicato Nacional da Indústria do Cimento (SNIC) indicate that cement sales in Brazil declined by 14.6 per cent YoY in October 2015 to 5.6Mt. Portland and blended cement shipments in the US and Puerto Rico during September 2015 totalled 9.011Mt, according to preliminary data from the US Geological Survey. Brazil’s September cement sales fell by 14.7 per cent YoY to 5.5Mt, according to a summary of preliminary industry data and market estimates published by Sindicato Nacional da Indústria do Cimento. Paraguay to import 200,000 bags of cement

Paraguay’s Industria Nacional del Cemento (INC) estimate it will import around 200,000 bags of cement per month to cover domestic demand this year, according to its CEO, Jorge Méndez. "The idea is to buy at similar cost to what we produce in Paraguay and from countries of the region such as Argentina and Brazil," said Mr Mendez. He added that currently the production of cement is about 50,000 bags per day and for next week, that will increase to cover the amount that came producing normally.

Gustavo Leite, Paraguay’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, said yesterday that there exists an alternative scenario that would see the country’s main cement producer, Industria Nacional de Cemento (INC) “urgently” become a cement importer.
