New plant project for Uzbekistan

The foundation of a new cement plant has been laid in Kattakurgan district of Samarkand region, Uzbekistan. The two-stage project is expected to create 2.4Mta of capacity at an investment of US$420m. It has been planned in cooperation with Chinese investors, according to Uzbekistan National News. The first stage, taking place over the 2018-20 period, will realise 1.2Mta of capacity at a cost of US$220m. The second stage is expected to be implemented in 2020-23.

Kazakh producer increases cement exports to Uzbekistan

Kazakhstan-based cement producer, SAS-Tobe Technologies, has increased its exports to Uzbekistan. As the first Kazakh manufacturer accredited by the Uzbek Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, it has sold 1500t of cement through the exchange in two months. The company plans to export more than 50 per cent of its products, about 0.25Mta, to Uzbekistan, according to Business World.

New plant announced for Uzbekistan

A new 1200tpd cement production facility has been announced by Sweden's ABA GTS group to be built in Angren, Uzbekistan. The project is expected to be completed by November 2019. At an event held to lay the foundations, the company recognised the growing need for housing, social and road infrastructure in the country. Therefore, the new plant will assist with the rising demand for building materials in the domestic market.

China National Building Materials (CNBM)

China National Building Materials (CNBM) is the main contractor on the upgrade project that recently got underway at Eurocement’s Akhangarancement plant at Akhangaransky in Uzbekistan. The project, which is estimated to cost over US$160m, will increase production capacity at the works to 3Mta. The new production line is due to be operational in mid-2020.

Eurocement Group has started the construction of its new 3Mta facility in Uzbekistan. Cement prices rise 25% in Uzbekistan

Cement prices in Uzbekistan have risen 24.7 per cent YoY in the first nine months of 2018, alongside an overall increase of 18.4 per cent in the price of building materials. Meanwhile, a decline in cement production within the country has been attributed to a price hike of around 60 per cent for gas and electricity for the construction industry.

Tajik cement exports increased to 0.92Mt in January-August 2018, a rise of 37 per cent in average monthly exports when compared with 2017, according to the country’s statistics agency. Chinese company Henshui Decheng Machinery and Equipment Co Ltd has signed an agreement to build several cement and brick factories in Jizzakh region, Uzbekistan.
