Pakistan exported 6.22Mt of cement in the first nine months of FY12-13 earning US$421.12m, compared to 6.245Mt at US$342.95m in the same period of last year. This shows that exports fell by 0.39 per cent in terms of volume but were up by 22.79 per cent in terms of dollar value, according to data released by Pakistan’s Federal Bureau of Statistics. Pakistan has reported flat growth in export sales in terms of volume for the first eight months of fiscal 2012-13, but a strong advance has been reported in terms of value thanks to improvements in the price per tonne of cement. Pakistan exports during the first seven months of the current fiscal year (FY12-13) fell 0.52 per cent to 5.076Mt, according to data released by Pakistan’s Federal Bureau of Statistics. Pakistan cement exporters have registered almost a 30 per cent YoY rise in cement export volumes in the first six months of the current fiscal. However, the amount of deliveries to neighbouring India continue to disappoint. Pakistan has recorded a rise in domestic cement sales in the first half of the current fiscal but export levels continue to remain under pressure. During the first five months of the current fiscal (FY12-13) Pakistan exported 3.612Mt of cement and earned US$245.48m compared to 3.624Mt at US$192.31m in the corresponding period of last year. Over the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year (beginning 20 March 2012), Iran exported over 9.38Mt of cement and clinker, representing an increase of 30 per cent compared to the same period of last year, the IRNA News Agency reported. Pakistan’s cement producers recorded a fall in cement exports to 741,782t at US$43.68m when compared with the September figure of 745,237t at US$54.96, declines of 0.46% and 20.53%, respectively.
