Anhui Conch net profit up 87.8%, China

Anhui Conch announced an 87.8% rise in net profit YoY to CNY11.59bn (US$1.8bn) on the back of higher prices and sales. This figure was in line with the company’s guidance released in January when it said it expected net profit to rise more than 80 per cent. Revenue in 2011 was up 41% to CNY48.65bn from CNY34.51bn. JK Lakshmi to commission new grinding unit, India

JK Lakshmi will commission a new 500,000tpd clinker grinding unit at Jharli in the next 2-3 days, managing director Vinita Singhania, said. CMS Cement, the sole cement producer in the state of Sarawak, East Malaysia, has opened a new cement terminal in Miri as the company aims to better its supply chain operations. Southern Province new line begins production, Saudi Arabia

Southern Province Cement (SPC) said the production line at its Tuhama plant started commercial production last week. The new 5000tpd line brings the Tuhama plant capacity to 10,000tpd and SPC’s total capacity to 23,000tpd. Derba MIDROC Cement Plc, Ethiopia’s biggest cement factory, was inaugurated on Sunday in the presence of Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and other invited guests.
