FLSmidth reports higher EBITA margin despite lower revenue

Denmark-based FLSmidth reported a 14 per cent fall in revenues in 3Q17 to DKK4101m (US$ 642.4m) from DKK4774m in 3Q16. While gross profit decreased by nine per cent to DKK1065m and EBITA was off by two per cent to DKK336, the company saw its EBITA margin improve from 7.2 per cent in 3Q16 to 8.2 per cent in 3Q17 on the back of a higher gross margin and a significantly-lower cost base. FLSmidth reports 11% rise in revenue

FLSmidth reported an 11 per cent rise in revenue and a 25 per cent increase in EBITA in the 2Q17, driven by continued momentum in in orders from service activities. Consolidated order intake grew by five per cent in the three month period while revenue rose to DKK4585m from DKK4135m a year earlier. FLSmidth reported a 19 per cent increase in order intake for 1Q16 to DKK5.281bn (US$797m), mainly due to the receipt of a large order in a quarter which is usually quiet.
