ACC in solid waste management drive for Bargarh

ACC of India has decided to process non-degradable waste  materials (such as water bottles, polythene and other waste materials) in the cement making process at its plant in Bargarh, western Orissa. Business Standard reports that the company will enter into agreements with the major urban local bodies (ULBs) of the state to take up the processing of such materials. Some ULB officials have visited the company’s plant in Katni (Madhya Pradesh) where plastic and polyethylene is used.

India’s Supreme Court has ordered Lafarge Bangladesh’s works to get approval from the federal environmental agency before it resumes mining for limestone in the eastern state of Meghalaya. UK: EU carbon rules will not spur industrial exodus

A new report said that the regulation of carbon dioxide emissions does not drive industries abroad. 

According to its findings, the European Union’s emissions trading scheme, one of the world’s toughest mechanisms for carbon regulation, would only result in businesses accounting for about two per cent of emissions under the scheme relocating their production overseas.
