Peru’s cement producers dispatched 777,000t of cement in June 2017, representing a 2.2 per cent increase YoY, according to the latest data from Asocem, the country’s cement association. During the FY16-17 (July 2016-June 2017), Pakistani cement producers exported 4.53Mt of cement at a total value of US$237.88m, compared with 5.97Mt at US$321.21m in the equivalent period of the previous year. Vietnam government urged to reduce export duty

Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment has proposed the government to reduce export duty on cement to help domestic cement producers to promote exports. According to the government’s Decree No 100/2016/ND-CP, exported cement products are not eligible to enjoy input value-added tax (VAT). Pakistan cement producers recorded a mixed performance in total dispatches for FY17 as a double-digit decline in exports was witnessed. During FY17, which drew to a close at the end of last month, the industry recorded growth a four per cent rise in dispatches YoY to 40.267Mt. Cement sales in Indonesia registered a slight decline over the first half of this year, while exports sales fared better over the six-month period, according to the latest industry data. Argentina’s cement market expanded 4.1 per cent MoM to 1,007,450t in June, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. When compared with June 2016, the increase reached 17.2 per cent. Cement sales in Brazil in the 1H17 fell 8.8 per cent YoY as the domestic market required 26.015Mt of cement, according to Brazil’s cement association, Sindicato Nacional de la Industria del Cemento (SNIC). Cement consumption in Spain has increased 10.8 per cent YoY to 4,887,751t in the first five months of the year, according to Oficemen, the country’s cement association. A significantly-improved growth rate in May of 15.3 per cent has seen the latest monthly figure reach 1,101,046t and offset the decrease seen in April. Pakistan dispatched 40.315Mt of cement of during fiscal year 2016-17, up 3.71 per cent YoY, the latest data from the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) shows.
