Peru’s cement dispatches edged up 0.6 per cent YoY to 0.777Mt in July 2017, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Domestic supply was supplemented by 100t of imported cement and 44,400t of imported clinker. Output from the country’s cement plants fell 1.2 per cent YoY to 0.827Mt in July. Argentine cement consumption edged up one per cent MoM and 19.8 per cent YoY in July 2017. Demand reached 1,016,590t. Imports surged from 982t in July 2016 to 8692t one year later. When compared with June 2017, they advanced 6.2 per cent from 8188t. Pakistan achieved record monthly sales in July, increasing by 44 per cent YoY to 3.382Mt during the month led by robust growth in domestic demand. Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) has proposed the export tariff be reduced to aid cement exports from the country. Vietnam's Ministry of Planning and Investment has proposed export tax cuts on cement, while local producers struggle with high stockpiles, claims Viet Nam news. Peru’s cement producers dispatched 777,000t of cement in June 2017, representing a 2.2 per cent increase YoY, according to the latest data from Asocem, the country’s cement association. During the FY16-17 (July 2016-June 2017), Pakistani cement producers exported 4.53Mt of cement at a total value of US$237.88m, compared with 5.97Mt at US$321.21m in the equivalent period of the previous year. Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment has proposed the government to reduce export duty on cement to help domestic cement producers to promote exports. Pakistan cement producers recorded a mixed performance in total dispatches for FY17 as a double-digit decline in exports was witnessed. Cement sales in Indonesia registered a slight decline over the first half of this year, while exports sales fared better over the six-month period, according to the latest industry data.
