Pakistan: exports at US$52.70m in 2M FY16-17

In July and August 2016, the first two months of FY16-17, Pakistan cement producers exported 1.01Mt of cement and earned export revenue of US$52.77m compared to 1.032Mt at US$59.60m in July-Aug 2015. The latest figures represent a two and 11.46 per cent fall in volume and USD value, respectively on YoY basis, says data released by Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics. Vietnam: domestic cement consumption could reach 80Mt by 2020

Cement consumption in Vietnam will this year reach 60Mt, while 15.5-17Mt of cement and clinker will be exported, claims Vietnam's Cement Association Chairman, Nguyen Quang Cung. Peru's cement market shows minor decline in August

In August Peruvian cement demand reached 0.868Mt, representing 4.3 per cent decline YoY, according to Asocem, the country's cement association. To complement local output, around 43,000t of cement and 87,000t of clinker were imported. Pakistan's cement dispatches in August 2016 stood at 3.585Mt, 16.75 per cent higher than dispatches of 3.071Mt recorded during the same month of previous fiscal year, according to the data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA). Cement dispatches in Argentina increased by 6.7 per cent YoY in August, according to preliminary figures published by the Argentine cement association, AFCP. The domestic market required the supply of 1,042,862t, up from 977,469t in August 2015. For the first two months of the current fiscal year (July-August 2016) Pakistan's total cement dispatches increased 14 per cent to 4.9Mt when compared to the 4.3Mt recorded in the same period last year. The increase is a result of growing domestic sales, which in August rose by 21 per cent YoY to 3.03Mt, up from 2.5Mt. Kenya's cement market is now being supplied with cement from a new source as Dangote has started exports from its 2.5Mta Ethiopian plant to the east African country. Industry sources said the majority of the exports are destined for road construction projects in the north of Kenya. Indonesia's cement and clinker exports are forecast to reach 1.5Mt in 2016, a 50 per cent increase when compared with the export volume of the previous year. In the seven months to July, exports had already noted a 63 per cent YoY increase.
