UBC and Baltrader form joint cement shipping alliance

Baltrader, based in Hamburg, Germany, and United Bulk Carriers (UBC), headquartered in Philadelphia, USA, have signed an agreement to jointly market their respective fleets of pneumatic cement carriers under the name Cement Carrier Alliance (CCA). Germany’s Aumund Fördertechnik GmbH has won an order from Aslan Cement Inc, comprising of nine machines in total. The order forms part of the complete modernisation of Aslan’s plant in Darıca, Kocaeli province, Turkey, which will see it ramp up clinker production capacity to 6600tpd. HeidelbergCement posted revenues of EUR4.238bn in January-March 2019, up 16.9 per cent when compared with the 1Q18. Like-for-like (LfL) – ie, excluding positive exchange rate effects of EUR68m – the change from the 1Q18 was 15 per cent. HeidelbergCement extends Renewi AF contract

HeidelbergCement Miljo has extended the contract for Icopower pellets from waste-to-product company Renewi plc. The new contract will run for three years with the option to extend for a similar period. Renewi will supply the Germany-based cement producer with up to 54,000tpa of pellets. HeidelbergCement uses the pellets as an alternative fuel in the Gotland plant.
