Pakistan cement industry's exports fall in 7MFY22-23

Pakistan’s cement industry saw a negative export revenue trend on overseas dispatches in the 7MFY22-23 (July-January 2023), according to the country’s Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS). During the 7MFY22-23, the cement industry earned US$100.63m by exporting 2.061Mt of cement and clinker, compared with US$160.92m from 4.315Mt exports in the 7MFY21-22. Confidence Cement issues shares for two new projects

Bangladesh-based Confidence Cement is planning to issue convertible preference shares worth BDT1500m (US$14.2m) to invest in associate companies and to repay a portion of its long-term loans. UltraTech Cement Co has commissioned 1.30Mta of brownfield cement capacity at Hirmi, Chhattisgarh and 2.80Mta of greenfield grinding capacity at Cuttack, Odisha.   This forms part of the on-going capacity expansion. Shree Cement Ltd has reported total income of INR42,300.2m (US$513m) in the quarter ended 31 December 2022. JK Lakshmi Cement on has signed an agreement with Amplus Solar to set up a 56MWp solar power plant for its Durg facility , located in Chhattisgarh. UltraTech commissions 1.5Mta Odisha unit

UltraTech Cement  (part of the Aditya Birla Group ) has commissioned a 1.5Mta brownfield cement grinding unit in Jharsuguda , Odisha, expanding the existing works, according to The Hindu. This latest addition will take the company’s total cement capacity in Odisha to 4.1Mta and puts its total cement production capacity for India as a whole at122.85Mta. By FY22-23 UltraTech's capacity is forecast to reach 159.25Mta once all current expansion programmes are completed. 

Domestic dispatches rise and exports fall in January

Pakistan's total cement industry dispatches increased by 1.2 per cent in January 2023 to 4.01Mt from 3.96Mt dispatched during the same month of last fiscal year. Local cement dispatches advanced by 5.2 per cent YoY to 3.587Mt in January 2023 from 3.409Mt in January 2022.
