Indonesian cement sales fell 5.8 per cent to 3.3Mt in August 2013, according to latest data from the Indonesian Cement Association. PT Cemindo Gemilang is to break ground on a new 4Mta cement plant in Banten, the westernmost province on the island of Java, bordering Jakarta. Indocement has ordered seven Loesche Vertical Roller Mills (VRM) for the new production line at Citeureup cement plant, 45km south of Jakarta, Indonesia. Cement exports from Indonesia increased in July as domestic demand slows and new capacity comes on-stream. PT Holcim Indonesia reported a decline in sales for the first six months of 2013, having registered a second consecutive quarterly fall. Volumes dropped by 1.3 per cent to 4Mt in the Jan-June 2013 period.
