Bosowa Corp set to start Banten plant construction, Indonesia

The Bosowa Corporation said it plans to start construction of a new cement plant in Cilegon, Banten, in the first quarter of next year. Company CEO, Erwin Aksa, told the Jakarta Post that should construction begin in March 2014, operations could commence by the end of 2015. Indocement has set a growth target of six per cent next year on the back of new capacity additions and rising domestic demand. Sales in Indonesia increased by 7.9 per cent in October, having experienced slowing growth in recent months. Data from the Indonesian Cement Association shows October sales reached 5.58Mt, rebounding from 5.3 per cent growth in the previous month. PT Semen Indonesia said it requires IDR6trn (US$508m) capital expenditure for expansion in 2014, the company’s president director has said. Indonesian cement sales in October 2013 increased 7.9 per cent (YoY) to 5.58Mt, according to data from the Indonesia Cement Association (ASI). PT Semen Indonesia plans to spend up to IDR6trn (US$516.4m) on capital expenditure in 2014, up from this year's IDR3trn, which will be used to build a greenfield cement factory. PT Semen Papua is due to start construction of Papua’s first cement factory, which will be constructed in the Paumako port area of East Mimika. The company, which is owned by the Papua provincial administration, will start construction of the new 0.5Mta plant this year, Adolf Haley, head of the regional development planning board, told ANTARA news.
