Moroccan deliveries up 7% in May

Cement deliveries in Morocco increased 7.1 per cent YoY to 945,706t in May 2022 from 882,785t in May 2021, according to Ipsos. The data relates to APC members Asment Temera, Ciments de l’Atlas, Ciments du Maroc and LafargeHolcim Maroc. However, in the year to date deliveries contracted by 3.1 per cent to 5,276,337t when compared with January-May 2021 when deliveries reached 5,446,117t.

Morocco’s market contracts 23% in April

Moroccan cement deliveries by Asment Temara ( Votorantim Cimentos ), Ciments de l'Atlas ( Addoha Group ), Ciments du Maroc ( HeidelbergCement Group ) and LafargeHolcim Maroc ( Holcim ) contracted by 22.8 per cent to 902,513t in April 2022 when compared with 1,169,122t in April 2021, according to Morocco’s cement association, APC. In the first four months of 2022 cement deliveries slipped by 5.1 per cent YoY to 4.331Mt from 4.563Mt in the January-April 2021 period.

LafargeHolcim Maroc sees 66% rise in 2Q revenue

LafargeHolcim Maroc saw a 66 per cent rise in revenues to MAD2078m (US$232.4m) in the second quarter of 2021 from MAD1252m in the 2Q20. The positive trend has been attributed mainly to the increase in sales across the board. In the first half of 2021 revenues increased by 26 per cent YoY to MAD4000m from MAD3185m in the 1H20. The company’s debt fell by 10 per cent YoY to MAD5952m at 30 June 2021.

Moroccan cement sales fall 50% in May

Morocco’s cement market contracted 50.6 per cent in May with 523,848t of cement delivered to domestic customers, according to APC, the country’s cement association. In May 2019 deliveries by APC members (Asment Temara, Ciments de l’Atlas, Ciments du Maroc and LafargeHolcim Maroc) reached 1,060,372. LafargeHolcim Maroc announces net profit up 9% in 1H19

LafargeHolcim Maroc has reported sales of MAD3.89bn (US$401.4m) in the 1H19, up 0.2 per cent YoY. The company’s operating profit increased 10.6 per cent YoY to MAD1.65bn while net consolidated profit appreciated 8.6 per cent to MAD965m. Return on capital investment reached 11.6 per cent. LafargeHolcim Maroc appoints new Chairman of the Board

Lafargeholcim Maroc has appointed Ali Fassi Fihri, former chief executive of the National Office for Drininking Water and Electricity (ONEE), to chairman of the board. Mr Fihri, who was dismissed from ONEE by King Mohammed VI in October 2017, now replaces Tarafa Maraouane, who resigned from his position.

LafargeHolcim to provide solutions for two port projects

LafargeHolcim will provide industrial solutions for two port projects in Ecuador and Morocco, according to SeeNews. George Michos appointed CEO of LafargeHolcim Maroc

George Michos has been appointed CEO of LafargeHolcim Maroc, according to Medias24. Mr Michos has replaced Marcel Cobus in the role, who has moved to take charge of the Europe region on LafargeHolcim’s executive committee. Mr Michos has also been co-opted as a director of the company. George Michos previously held several senior positions within the group. Most recently, he has been the managing director of Heracles General Cement Co, Greece.

APC: Moroccan cement producers use renewables for 80% of energy requirements

Moroccan cement producers source about 80 per cent of its energy from renewable energy sources, Mohamed Chaibi, president of the Moroccan cement association, APC, said. Leading the way is LafargeHolcim Maroc as three of its cement plants use mainly wind energy, up to 85 per cent of the total, thanks to its own wind farm near by. The company has also concluded power purchase contracts with Nareva and Acwa Power to supply renewable power to a total of eight sites in Morocco.

Société les Cimenteries du Cameroun (Cimencam) announced that the commissioning of its new Nomayos cement plant is scheduled for mid-2018. The new grinding unit will boast an installed capacity of 2Mta and is expected to cost XAF23bn (US$38.5m).
