Flying Cement Co of Pakistan has placed an order for the delivery of a further vertical roller mill (VRM) with Germany-based mill specialist Loesche. The VRM will be installed as part of a 7000tpd cement production line under construction in Mangowal, Pakistan. It will grind 600tph of raw materials. The Pakistan cement sector collectively recorded a one per cent YoY decline in profit-after-tax during the FY18 period ended 30 June, according to a report by Spectrum Securities Ltd. According to Federal Bureau of Statistics, Pakistan's cement industry earned foreign exchange revenue of US$27.57m by exporting 617,745t of cement during the month of August 2018, compared to US$20.96m from exporting 475,134t of cement in previous month. Kohat Cement Company Ltd (KCCL) has informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on 19 September that its full-year net profit for 2018 was down by 16 per cent to PKR2.98bn (US$24.1m) YoY. The company's local and export sales also contracted by one per cent to PKR13.43bn. Pakistan’s Maple Leaf Cement has reported a 4.2 per cent YoY fall in its profit after tax for the year ended 30 June 2018. Profit for the period came in at PKR4.572bn (US$37.1m) with earnings per share of PKR7.92.  Pakistan's Finance Minister and chair to the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), Asad Umar, has announced an increase in gas tariffs for all industrial sectors from 10 to 143 per cent, to take effect from October. Pakistan’s Thatta Cement has recorded a 22.3 per cent YoY fall in net sales to PKR2.84bn (US$23.03m) for the FY17-18 period, ended 30 June 2018. Operating profit decreased 38.4 per cent to PKR563.2m (FY16-17: PKR913.69m), while net profit slipped 38.7 per cent to PKR356.86m (FY16-17: PKR581.99m). Pakistan cement's industry saw a fall in total dispatches in August 2018, dropping 8.3 per cent YoY to 3.452Mt from 3.76Mt in August 2017. This runs counter to the strong month of July when a growth of 5.1 per cent was recorded.
