Peru’s Cementos Pacasmayo is expected to see a two per cent YoY drop in output volumes in 3Q14, according to investment bank JP Morgan. However, the cement producer is forecast to rebound in the 4Q14 by two per cent and recorded gains of eight and nine per cent in 2015 and 2016, respectively. Peru: September dispatches up 3.7%

Cement dispatches in Peru rose 3.7 per cent in September to 904,840t, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Including exports, dispatches reached 946,762t. For 9M14, total domestic sales remained stable at 7.6Mt, edging up 0.4 per cent when compared with 9M13. Some 0.2Mt of exports were dispatched from the Latin American country in the period. Output registered a 0.81 per cent rise.

Peruvian cement makers slumped on concerns of slowing building materials sales while the government scales back infrastructure spending. In August domestic dispatches in the Peruvian cement market edged 0.75 per cent down to 908,553t when compared with the same month of 2013, according to Asocem, the country’s cement producers’ association. Cement exports reached 30,083t during the period. Production advanced 2.44 per cent to 958,712t. Peru cement sales fall 3.9% in July

Cement dispatches in Peru reached 845,907t in July, representing a 3.9 per cent decline YoY, according to Asocem, the country's cement producers' association. In the year to date, the latest figures reflect a 0.11 per cent increase YoY while output in domestic cement plants edged up 0.66 per cent to nearly 6Mt. Exports in the first seven months were up 0.64 per cent, surpassing the 5.8Mt mark.

Cementos Yura of Peru has invested PEN140m (US$50m) in new equipment in the year to date, mainly as a result of the construction of its new cement grinding unit. Peruvian producer Cementos Pacasmayo reported a 3.5 per cent increase in cement sales volumes for the first six months of the year, exceeding the national average of 0.84 per cent. Cement shipments in Peru in June advanced 1.5 per cent to 807,953t in June 2014 from 795,896t in the same month last year, according to the country's cement producers' association, Asocem. Lafarge has agreed the sale of Lafarge Cementos in Ecuador to Union Andina de Cemento of Peru for US$553m. The completion date for the sale of this 1.4Mta works has yet to be agreed. This deal follows the sale of the Honduran cement operations to Cementos Argos at around the turn of the year. Lafarge Zimbabwe is looking for a suitable site on which to build a cement works costing US$250m-300m. Cement producers in Bolivia expect domestic cement demand to grow by 6-10 per cent in 2014.
