Power Cement reports 11% fall in sales

Pakistan’s Power Cement Ltd has reported a 11.2 per cent decline in net sales to PKR3.85bn (US$24.5m) in the FY19 ended 30 June, falling from PKR4.34bn in the year-ago period. Gross profit was down 76.7 per cent YoY to PKR157.28m in the period. However, profit after tax increased 82 per cent to PKR582.1m from PKR319.9m.

Power Cement expects real estate to increase sales

Lucky receives power plant financing

Lucky Cement has received financing approval for its power plant at Deh Ghangiaro, Bin Qasim, Karachi. Lucky Electrical Power Co Ltd, a subsidiary of Lucky Cement, applied for the finance to build a 660MW supercritical coal-based power project to supply power to the national grid. The project cost is estimated at US$885m, financed through a debt-to-equity ratio of 75:25. Commercial operation is scheduled to start in March 20121.

Pakistan’s Power Cement has awarded the contract for the design, manufacture and supply of a 132/6.3kV air-insulated switchgear grid station to GE Power. Arif Habib Group has said that it is going to invest PKR25bn (US$238.5m) in a new cement plant to be completed in the next two years, to be operated by its subsidiary Power Cement. Pakistan-based producer Al Abbas Cement has officially changed its name to Power Cement, the company informed the Karachi Stock Exchange yesterday. The company operates a cement plant in Nooriabad, Dadu, with a clinker and cement capacity of 0.9Mta and 0.95Mta, respectively.
