Gebr Pfeiffer commissions Osho grinding mill

Gebr Pfeiffer has erected and commissioned an MVR grinding plant at Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, South Africa, for Osho Cement in just four months. Osho Cement is a joint venture with HeidelbergCement. The MVR 37750 C-4 mill was ordered in 2017 and is the first MVR mill in South Africa. Bearings International (BI) has supplied a large order of KÖBO chains to cement producers in the North West and the Western Cape of South Africa. The order consisted of a bucket elevator, coal reclaimer, and hot pan conveyor chain. Sephaku Cement (Dangote group) reported a 35 per cent slump in net profit to ZAR44m (US$31.7m) on a one per cent decline in revenue to ZAR831m for the year to end-March. South Africa’s PPC expects its net profit attributable to shareholders to increase between 55-65 per cent for the financial year ended 31 March, compared with ZAR93m (US$6.9m) of the previous year. The Mozambican customs service has defended the seizure on 2 June of 28,800 sacks of cement (1440t) imported from South Africa, despite the insistence by the importing company, Kawena, that such imports are exempt from customs duty. Osho Cement, in a joint venture with HeidelbergCement, is building a new MVR grinding plant in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Lafarge Africa records sales increase in 2017

A NGN33bn (US$105m) write-down on Lafarge Africa’s operations in South Africa and Nigeria resulted in a wider loss for 2017, according to Reuters.
