Cement prices are likely to go up by Rs 3-Rs 5 from Saturday onwards in Mumbai, India,  according to reliable sources. Some 70,000 tonnes of cement are expected to arrive in the island of Jamaica by June for distribution by six private sector companies, in an effort to relieve the slump in the construction industry caused by a shortage of the product. Cement exports to Afghanistan from Pakistan is in full swing despite withdrawal of concessions by the government as figures climbed to 150,000t  in May. The United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s Ministry of Economy has overturned a decision by cement factories to increase cement prices by Dhs 10 (US$2.70) per tonne from June 1. Cement prices jump in Grenada

The construction industry in the Caribbean island of Grenada will be hit by an almost 30 per cent increase in the price of cement as soon as the next shipment arrives, reports Caribbean Net News (May 8, 2006).
