Fancesa signs US$20m cement deal with SNC

Bolivian cement producer Fancesa has signed contracts worth US$20.3m to deliver cement to major roadworks and other operations in Tarija and Potosì departments, a SNC government official told local reporters. Output of Belgorod Cement JSC came in at about 990,000t of cement in the first seven months of 2005 - up 11 per cent as compared to the same period 2004. Packed products volume rose 8.6 per cent or 126,000t of cement, Eurocement Group’s press service reported.

According to “Tehran Times” in the first three months of the current Iranian year, some 900,000t of cement was exported from this mid-eastern province, said head of the provincial organization of industries and mines. Esrafil Ahmadiyeh stated that Shahrud Cement Plant produces 68,000t of cement every month, and about 60% of the plant’ production is exported to other provinces.

Malaysia cement producers in talks to avert price war

Malaysia’s major cement producers, Lafarge Malayan Cement Bhd, Cement Industries of Malaysia Bhd and YTL Cement Bhd and other smaller firms recently held talks in a bid to seek a pricing agreement, the Sun newspaper reported, quoting unnamed sources.  The newspaper added the talks are believed to be an effort to avert a further price war.   It added that currently, the recent average market price for cement is at M$180 per tonne.
