Iran exports

According to “Tehran Times” in the first three months of the current Iranian year, some 900,000t of cement was exported from this mid-eastern province, said head of the provincial organization of industries and mines. Esrafil Ahmadiyeh stated that Shahrud Cement Plant produces 68,000t of cement every month, and about 60% of the plant’ production is exported to other provinces.

Pakistan Govt may allow imports

Malaysia cement producers in talks to avert price war

Malaysia’s major cement producers, Lafarge Malayan Cement Bhd, Cement Industries of Malaysia Bhd and YTL Cement Bhd and other smaller firms recently held talks in a bid to seek a pricing agreement, the Sun newspaper reported, quoting unnamed sources.  The newspaper added the talks are believed to be an effort to avert a further price war.   It added that currently, the recent average market price for cement is at M$180 per tonne. Cement demand in the Catalonia region, northeastern Spain, stood at 1.547Mt in the first half of 2005, a 1.72 per cent year-on-year decrease, the local cement makers’ association Ciment Catala said on July 24, 2005. Domestic shipments of cement fell 3.5% to 57.56Mt in fiscal 2004, though the market share rankings of the top five players in the sector remained unchanged from the previous year.     Industry leader Taiheiyo Cement Corp dropped 0.8 of a share point due to declining demand in the Tohoku region, where the company holds a relatively large slice of the market.
