Quinn Industrial Holdings (QIH) has recorded a 7.4 per cent YoY increase in turnover to EUR209m for the full-year 2017 period. EBITDA saw a significant improvement of 31 per cent, from EUR18.2m to EUR23.9m. Breedon Group PLC reports revenues grew by 43 per cent to GBP652.4m (US$904.9m) in 2017 while underlying earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) increased by 35 per cent to GBP80.4m, including a full-year contribution from Hope Construction Materials Ltd. LafargeHolcim acquires Kendall Group

LafargeHolcim has acquired UK-based aggregates and ready-mix concrete manufacturer Kendall Group to expand its operations in the south of England. Kendall will be managed by Aggregate Industries and complement the company’s existing operations in the UK, according to LafargeHolcim. Kendall generated a net revenue of CHF33m (US$35.2m) in 2017 and marks the first deal of the year for LafargeHolcim.

Dangote London IPO and Eurobond would need Board approval

According to Bloomberg, Dangote Cement Plc is potentially reviving plans for an Initial Public Offering sale in London that could raise about US$1bn. The Nigerian company is said to have approached investment bankers to discuss a potential UK listing and issuing a debut Eurobond. ICR spoke to a Dangote spokesperson who said, "Such corporate actions as Bloomberg reports would require Board approval..." Currently, Dangote claims no such decision has been taken on either matter.

MPA report highlights CO2 emissions fall for UK cement producers

The Mineral Products Association (MPA) reports that carbon dioxide emissions per tonne of cement fell by two per cent between 2016-17 in the UK. However, for aggregates and asphalt production CO 2 emissions incresed in the country, while readymix concrete production saw a decline in emissions.
