Cemex UK invests in trailers for clay haulage

Cemex UK has started using trucks with non-tipping belt trailers on its clay supply route between Southam Quarry and Rugby Cement plant. Thanks to the conveyor belt bed in the trailer, there is no need for the truck to tip the clay out, which ensures there is no risk of truck rollover or collision with buildings if the body is not lowered. Breedon appoints Clive Watson to its board

UK-based Breedon Group has announced the appointment of Clive Watson to its board as an independent non-executive director of the company. Mr Watson was previously the group financial director of Spectris and is still currently serving as a non-executive director of DiscoverIE Group. According to a press release, he holds 35,000 ordinary shares (0.002 per cent of total voting rights) in the company.

Andusia forms partnership with SRF producer for Mediterranean exports

Andusia has partnered with Mid UK Recyling (Beaupar group), the UK's largest solid recovered fuel (SRF) producer. MPA reports sluggish 1Q19 sales of building materials in the UK

Sales volumes of mineral products across markets including aggregates, asphalt, ready-mixed concrete (RMC) and mortar declined in the UK in 1Q19, reported the Mineral Products Association (MPA). Seasonally-adjusted sales volumes for aggregates had the sharpest decline, down 4.2 per cent compared to the previous quarter, followed by RMC (-4 per cent), mortar (-2.8 per cent) and asphalt (-1.9 per cent).
