Iranian company builds floating silos for cement shipment

An Iranian company in Arak has devised a new method to carry cement across the Caspian sea from Iran to customers in neighbouring countries. It makes use of containers similar to floating silos. Azarab Industries Company (AIC) has managed to install the silos on a number of floating platforms or barges for an Iranian shipping company. ACC December cement shipments up

India’s second-biggest cement producer, Associated Cement Companies Ltd, said on Tuesday its December shipments rose 18 per cent to 1.595Mt from 1.348Mt a year earlier. The Mumbai-based company said production totalled 1.574Mt, up 16 per cent from 1.353Mt a year ago.

Gujarat Ambuja December shipments up

Gujarat Ambuja Cements Ltd. , India’s third-biggest cement maker, said on Tuesday its December shipments rose seven per cent from a year earlier to 1.195Mt. Ambuja’s cement production in the same period totalled 1.16Mt, compared with 1.13Mt a year earlier, the company said in a statement. 

Indian cement firms lift prices

India’s top cement makers have raised prices by an average 3 rupees per bag in Mumbai, the country’s largest cement market, effective from Monday to cash in on strong demand, dealers said on Tuesday.  "All the major producer have raised prices by an average 3 rupees per bag as demand is strong because of the pick up in the construction activities," one cement dealer told Reuters.  Retail cement prices would rise to 182-184 rupees per 50-kg bag, dealers said.    Associated Cement Companies Lt...

Omani Raysut Cement new contract

  Omani cement producer Raysut Cement has won a contract to supply 200,00t of resistant cement for the expansion of the Omani Salalah Port , the company said. The port will start expansion works at the beginning of 2006. Port operator Salalah Port Services is 30 per cent owned by Danish industrial and shipping group AP Moller - Maersk Group and 70 per cent owned by the Omani government and private investors.

Argentina construction industry high note

  Argentina ’s construction sector registered a 22.3 per cent growth in November, compared with the same month of the last year, a new historical record, National Statistic Institute (INDEC) reported. Record year for Port Everglades

Cargo volume at Port Everglades, Florida reached an all-time high of 26.6Mt in the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, up 4.3 per cent from 25.46Mt the previous year. However, dry bulk cargoes including cement, gypsum and miscellaneous dry commodities decreased by 0.2 per cent from 2.853Mt to 2.848Mt, but revenue increased by 5.2 per cent from US$4.6m to US$4.84m.
