China cement output growth falls
05 November 2007

Growth of China’s cement output has shown a downward trend and has presented three features in the first nine months of this year, sources of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) disclosed.

The monthly growth of cement output has fluctuated sharply. The highest growth was reported in May, 20.7 percent; and the lowest growth was reported in March, only 2.6 per cent.

The YoY growth is basically stable. Except a 23.8 per cent accumulative growth in January-February, the accumulative growth in March-September has stabilised at 14.4-16.1 per cent.

The output growth has shown the trend of falling steadily. To be specific, the growth in January-June is 0.1 percentage points lower than in January-May; that in January-July is 0.6 percentage points lower than in January-June; that in January-August is 0.4 percentage points lower than in January-July; and that in January-September has stabilised at the level in January-August.

NDRC predicts that China’s cement output growth will retain a steady and slightly downward trend before the end of this year.
