Cement imports into Algeria almost double
29 January 2013

Cement imports into Algeria have almost doubled in 2012, according to the National Customs Centre for Informatics and Statistics (CNIS).

The import value of construction cement, which encompasses five types, rose 94.67 per cent in 2012, from US$125.537m to US$244.4m, according to a CNIS report. In terms of volume, there is a 98.37 per cent rise from 1.361Mt to 2.701Mt.

The CNIS attributes the increase to a dynamic construction sector and the many housing projects launched by the state.
