Cement demand in Colombia increased 5.1 per cent to 1.054Mt in December 2025 from 1.002Mt in December 2024, according to DANE, the national statistics agency.
While the wholesale/retail segment expanded by 10.7 per cent YoY, off-take by all other sectors noted a decline, ranging from 0.1 per cent for the ready-mix concrete segment to 10 per cent for the construction companies and contractors. This is also reflected in the breakdown between bulk and bagged sales: bulk dispatches were down 2.1 per cent while bagged sales saw growth of 8.3 per cent YoY.
Output grew by 3.1 per cent to 1.181Mt from 1.145Mt over the same period.
Full-year 2025
In the January-December 2025 period the Colombia cement market expanded by 4.9 per cent YoY to 12.708Mt from 12.110Mt in the equivalent period of the previous year.
Sales to the wholesale/retail sector grew by 11.4 per cent in 2025, but dispatches to the ready-mix concrete segment were down 2.5 per cent. The construction companies and contractors segment saw a reduction in off-take of 5.9 per cent YoY. As a result, bulk dispatches were down 1.6 per cent while bagged sales saw growth of 8.2 per cent YoY.
Nariño reported the largest growth in dispatches, up 22.5 per cent, followed by Bolívar (+12.3 per cent), Sucre (+10.6 per cent) and Huila (+10 per cent). Strong growth was also reported in Norte de Santander, Magdalena and Bogotá, where dispatches increased by 9.9, 8.8 and 8.6 per cent, respectively. Market expansion was also significant in Santander (+7.5 per cent), Tolima (+7.1 per cent), Antioquia (+4 per cent) and Cesar (+3.3 per cent), while minor growth was reported in Casanare (+1.4 per cent), Meta and Caldas (1.1 per cent). All other departments saw their markets contract between 0.8 and two per cent.
Domestic production picked up by 3.2 per cent YoY to 12.859Mt in 2025 from 13.424Mt in the prior year.
