Caisse de Dépôt et Placement to keep stake in McInnis

Caisse de Dépôt et Placement no longer intends to sell its interest in Ciment McInnis’ cement plant in Port-Daniel, Gaspésie, Canada. "We are convinced of the potential of this company. We are comfortable with this investment. We have work to do, but it's true for all our investments, "said Caisse CEO, Michael Sabia. The Caisse commissioned a consulting firm last year to study several scenarios, including the sale of the CAD1.5bn (US$1.17bn) cement plant.

HeidelbergCement has sold, or agreed the sale of, a number of assets. These include a 50 per cent interest in Ciment Quėbec, land in the Cairo area that used to have a cement works and a minority stake in Syria.  The agreed sale of the activities in the Ukraine include one integrated cement works, one grinding plant, two quarries and two ready-mixed concrete batching plants. In total, these disposals add up to in excess of EUR150m.        

Menzel supplies slipring motor for Canadian customer

Menzel Elektromotoren has supplied a spare motor to a Canadian cement plant. It equipped the plant with a 4.5MW motor from stock and built an extended shaft. Kiln break in McInnis Cement adds 1-2 weeks to production stop

Reports of a major kiln break at McInnis Cement’s Port-Daniel plant have indicated that the plant will see a production stop of 6-7 weeks. However, the company has said that a production stop for maintenance purposes was already scheduled and the break adds only 1-2 weeks to the initial plan. LafargeHolcim’s plans to incinerate tyres at its facility in Brookfield, Nova Scotia, has been given regulatory approval by the Canadian province. Although the company requested a three-year project the Environment Department has issued industrial approval to conduct a one-year pilot. McInnis Cement can transport more cement by rail

The number of rail wagons transported by McInnis Cement across the Cascapedia bridges in Richmond may be increased, according to Radio Gaspésie. A recent review of the ultrasonic structure has shown that the bearing capacity of the bridges is higher than was estimated.
