Company Industrializadora de Minerales SA (CIMSA) wants to form an association with Ancap of Uruguay to receive clinker for its subsidiary Cementos Charrúa, to produce cement at the grinding unit being built in Montevideo. Turkish cement producer Sançim Cimento (Sançim) has been acquired by Askale Çimento, according to local news reports. The acquisition follows the recently aborted acquisition of Sancim by domestic cement major Cimsa, for EUR185.14m. The new owner of Sancim is a joint-venture of Sonmez Holding (43 per cent), Aunde Teknik (38 per cent), E.N.A. Tekstil (10 per cent) and Umut Insaat (nine per cent).

Sabanci group company Cimsa has acquired fellow Turkish producer Sancim Bilecik Cimento in a deal reportedly worth US$220.7m. Cimsa full-year net profit surges

Turkey-based Cimsa said its consolidated net profit surged 162 per cent to TRL302.3m (EUR99.6m) in 2013. Cimsa Cimento has seen a big rise in its 1H13 profits on the back of increased investment and higher sales. Consolidated net profit grew to TRY218m (US$110m) from TRY49m a year earlier.
