In October Argentina cement producers delivered 1,150,386t of cement, including exports, according to the Argentine cement producers association, AFCP. This represents a two per cent rise MoM and 23.2 per cent YoY. Of this total, domestic deliveries stood at 1,141,190t, up 23.3 per cent YoY, while exports increased 14.5 per cent YoY to 9196t. Cement sales in Puerto Rico fell by 70.2 per cent YoY in September. While sales have been declining since 2013, the size of the reduction in September has been attributed to the economic inactivity following the passage of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. For the first nine months of 2017, cement consumption in Indonesia rose 6.6 per cent to 47.432Mt from 45.504Mt, according to the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI). The data reflects sales by ASI members only. Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the US and Puerto Rico in August 2017 reached 9.7Mt, an increase of 3.1 per cent when compared with August 2016, according to the latest data from the US Geological Survey (USGS). Cemex said on Thursday that reconstruction efforts from two major earthquakes that hit Mexico last month will likely require 500,000t of cement over the next 12 to 18 months. Grey cement consumption in Colombia in August 2017 reached 1.033Mt, down 5.2 per cent when compared with August 2016, according to the national statistics office, DANE. Shift in Bolivian market due to reduced high-rise construction

The decrease in the construction of high-rise buildings in Bolivia has led to a change in cement sales, according to Fancesa’s Marketing Manager, Marcelo Maranon. Purchases are now carried out in random volumes rather than requiring large-sized deliveries, he said.
