Moroccan cement consumption decreased by 10.3 per cent YoY to 1,227,932t in August 2017 from 1,368,884t in the year-ago period, according to the country’s Ministry of Housing and Urbanisation. Peru’s cement association, Asocem, reported a 2.3 per cent YoY rise in domestic deliveries from 0.838Mt in August 2016 to 0.857Mt in August 2017. Cement imports remained largely stable at 43,800t while clinker imports reached 86,000t. Total cement consumption in the Latin American country reached 0.901Mt, up 2.2 per cent from 0.882Mt in the year-ago period and 15.6 per cent MoM. Pakistan cement sales up 11% in August

Cement sales in Pakistan rose 10.9 per cent YoY in August 2017 to 3.766Mt from 3.585Mt in August 2016. In the northern region, dispatches reached 2.731Mt, up from 2.495Mt in August 2016, while in the southern region dispatches rose from 0.532Mt to 0.625Mt during the same period. The sales of Saudi cement producers fell 15.5 per cent to 3.72Mt in August 2017 when compared to 4.4Mt reported in August 2016. Total production in August reached 3.79Mt, down YoY from 4.3Mt, according to Yamama Cement Co. Cement inventories rose 11.3 per cent YoY to 1.17Mt from 1.05Mt in the year-ago period. Cement sales in Brazil for the first eight months of 2017 fell by eight per cent YoY to 35.7Mt, according to preliminary industry data gathered by Sindicato Nacional da Indústria do Cimento (SNIC). Cement consumption in Argentina increased 7.4 per cent to 1.122Mt in August 2017 from 1.044Mt in August 2016, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. The organisation also noted a 10.3 per cent rise MoM from 1.017Mt in July 2017.
