Cement demand in Peru up 2.5% in November

Cement consumption in Peru totalled 0.902Mt in November, representing a 2.5 per cent YoY rise but a MoM drop of 2.5 per cent, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association. Uzbekistan plans to produce 9.2Mt in 2018

The government of Uzbekistan has approved a balance of production and consumption of cement for 2018. The country plans to produce 9.198Mt of cement in 2018, with Uzstroymateriali to produce 7.775Mt. Cement demand in Morocco increased 5.2 per cent YoY in November 2017 to 1,274,165t from 1,211,298t in October 2016, according to data by the country's Ministry of Housing and Urbanisation. Market expansion was particularly strong in Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab, which saw consumption increase 47.6 per cent to 8500t in November when compared with November 2016 volumes. Cement plants in Pakistan reached 94.65 per cent capacity utilisation during the July-November period of 2017, according to The Nation. In November 2017 the country recorded a 9.89 per cent increase in domestic consumption. The Argentine cement market expanded 16.5 per cent in November 2017 with consumption increasing to 1,179,763t from 1,013,083t, according to the latest data from the country’s cement producers' association, AFCP. The Indonesia cement market expanded 12.5 per cent YoY to 6.754Mt in October 2017, according to data from the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI).  The key market of Java reported a 17 per cent increase with local demand rising from 3.202Mt in October 2016 to 3.745Mt one year later with growth particularly robust in Banten, West and Central Java. Cement consumption in Colombia increased 3.6 per cent from 993,700t in October 2016 to 1,029,400t in October 2017, according the country’s statistics office, DANE. State-owned Vietnam Cement Industry Corp (Vicem), the country’s leading cement producer, sold 20.93Mt of cement in the first 10 months of 2017. The volume reflects a drop of 1.1 per cent YoY.
