Pakistan closes FY14-15 with 3.5% sales rise

Pakistan cement sales increased by 3.5 per cent in FY14-15 as strong domestic construction and housing activity boosted dispatches, according to Topline Securities. Vietnam’s cement sales rose six per cent YoY to 34.16Mt in the first half of this year, meeting 47.4 per cent of the year’s plan, the Vietnam Building Material Association under the Ministry of Construction said. US: preliminary April 2015 shipments

Portland and blended cement shipments in the US and Puerto Rico in April 2015 amounted to 7.669Mt, preliminary data from the USGS shows. Imports accounted for 776,781t of total dispatches during the month. For the first four months of this year, shipments reached 24.09Mt, of which 2.321Mt were imports. Indonesian monthly consumption declines by 7.9%

Indonesian consumption remained weak in May, declining by nearly eight per cent, latest data from the Indonesia Cement Association shows. Cement demand fell by 7.9 per cent in May 2015 to 4.78Mt. Consumption during the month was down in all areas, with Kalimantan seeing the largest regional drop (-24.3 per cent) followed by Maluk & Irian Jaya (-16.2 per cent) and Sulawesi. State-owned Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem), the country’s leading cement producer, said its cement and clinker sales in May advanced 10 per cent YoY to 2.01Mt.  Of the total, 1.84Mt of cement and clinker were sold in domestic market while 162,000t were exported. Semen Indonesia May sales down

Indonesia's largest cement maker, PT Semen Indonesia Tbk, said its sales in May were down 13.9 per cent from the last year at 1.98Mt, Indonesia Finance Today reported, quoting the firm's investor relations officer Anto Brilianto. The cement producer sold 9.91Mt of cement in the first five months of 2015, down 5.3 per cent from 10.47Mt during the same period last year.

Domestic demand buoys Pakistan dispatches in first 10 months

A total of 29Mt of cement was dispatched during the first 10 months (July 2014 - April 2015) of the current Pakistan versus 28Mta in the same period of last year due to a rise in domestic demand, the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) said. In April 2015 there was a 4.4 per cent YoY rise in cement dispatches in Colombia. Some 0.999Mt of grey cement reached domestic customers, according to the latest figures by the national statistics service, DANE. Australian construction materials group Adelaide Brighton says cement and clinker product sales volumes should be "similar to or greater than" levels in the prior year.
