Saudi August dispatches rise 29.8% YoY

Saudi cement dispatches for August 2014 climbed to 3.96Mt, an increase of 29.8 per cent YoY and 47.8 per cent MoM, AlJazira Capital has stated in a report citing the data issued by Yamamah Cement Co. Vietnam approves Vicem privatisation schedule

Vietnam’s Ministry of Construction has approved the privatisation schedule of Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem), the country's largest cement producer, under which Vicem will have to sell shares of its parent firm in October 2015. Pakistan’s August cement dispatches higher

Total Pakistan dispatches during August increased by 23.2 per cent compared to the same month of last year with strong increases seen on both the domestic and export front. Latest data from the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association shows that total dispatches reached 2.7788Mt last month compared to 2.254Mt in August 2013. Pakistan’s largest cement producer, Lucky Cement, reported a net profit of PKR11.3bn (US$110.34m) for the fiscal ending 30 June 2014, up 16.4 per cent compared to PKR9.7bn in the previous year. Earnings growth was primarily supported by higher sales volumes and prices during the period. On a quarterly basis, earnings grew four per cent QoQ to PKR3.15bn. Companies in Vietnam sold 42.53Mt of cement in the first eight months of this year, up eight per cent YoY and meeting 68.6 per cent of the year’s target, the Ministry of Construction said. Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the US and Puerto Rico for the year through June 2014 reached 39.5Mt, up by about seven per cent from the same period in 2013. In the first half of 2014, Eurocement Group shipped over 450,000t of  PC 500-D0-N grade cement, 24 per cent higher than the previous year. Pakistan cement dispatches during the first month of the new fiscal (FY14-15) proved disappointing with both domestic and export sales registering YoY declines. Total sales during July 2014 fell 14.12 per cent to 2.23Mt compared to 2.6Mt, latest data from the Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) shows. Vietnam sold 37Mt of cement in the first seven months of this year, up eight per cent from a year ago and fulfilling 59.75 per cent of the whole-year target, the country's Ministry of Construction said. Cement sales in the Philippines rose 3.2 per cent in the second quarter of this year, underpinned by public works projects and private sector construction activity.
