JK Lakshmi Cement halts production at its Durg plant

India’s JK Lakshmi Cement has suspended production at its 2.7Mta Durg plant in Chhattisgarh, due to a strike called by the state’s Cement Transport Association. Dispatches from the facility, which were substantially reduced from 19 September, have now been completely stopped, according to the company. However, industry-wide negotiations are being held with the state government and the company is hopeful of an amicable solution soon.

Pakistan's local and export dispatches during September 2021 remained depressed, reports All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA). Domestic dispatches stood at 4.018Mt and exports reached 0.572Mt compared to 4.095Mt and 1.131Mt in September 2020, respectively. Pakistan’s cement sector posted a robust YoY growth of 12.73 per cent in June 2021, as total dispatches rose to 5.211Mt against 4.623Mt in June 2020. All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) has reported considerable growth in domestic and export cement dispatches for May 2021 and the 11MFY21.
