Vicem sales up 14.8% in first four months, Vietnam

State-owned Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem) sold 6.94Mt of cement and clinker in the first four months of this year, rising by 14.8 per cent YoY. Cement dispatches from the Peruvian market reached 2,476,577t in the first quarter of 2013, representing a YoY rise of 10.8 per cent on the same period of last year (2,235,485t). Vietnam’s leading cement producer Vietnam Cement Industry Corp (Vicem) reported a 19.2 per cent YoY rise as domestic shipments increased but exports declined. The state-run cement corporation said it sold 4.91Mt of cement and clinker in the first quarter of 2013, rising 19.2 per cent YoY. Argentine cement factories shipped 938,872t in March 2013 (including exports), representing an 11.9 per cent increase compared to February, latest data from local cement association AFCP shows. Semen Indonesia, the country’s largest cement producer, has reported a double-digit rise in first quarter sales and has increased its market share thanks to new capacity additions. Pakistan reported a rise in dispatches last month led by gains in export volumes but domestic sales were subdued. Latest data from the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers’ Association show cement dispatches reached 3.326Mt last month, of which 2.558Mt was consumed by the domestic market and 0.786Mt exported. Paraguay’s Industria Nacional de Cemento (INC) posted a 56 per cent jump in second half 2012 sales compared to the first half of the year. The company sold 6,337,786 bags of cement in the second half of 2012 compared to 4,051,637 bags sold in the first six months.
