Fabrica Nacional de Cemento experiences bagging shortage

Venezuela’s Fabrica Nacional de Cemento has halted bagging cement at its key Pertigalete plant, the country’s largest cement plant. During normal operation the works bags around 105,000 bags per day. The stoppage has been attributed to a lack of available bags and will be affecting national cement distribution, according to Luis Chaparro, secretary general of the Pertigalete union. He added that the resultant scarcity would fuel further speculation in Venezuela’s cement market.

Vicem eight-month sales rise 9.5%

Vietnam Cement Industry Corp (Vicem), domestic market leader, said cement and clinker sales rose by 9.5 per cent YoY to 14.38Mt. Domestic sales accounted for 13.64Mt of the total while 742,000t was exported. The group produced 10.89Mt of clinker and 11.13Mt of cement, up 12.5 and 11.8 per cent YoY, respectively. Pakistan monthly sales fall

Pakistan cement dispatches fell seven per cent YoY in August due to the Eid holidays and wet weather conditions. Sales were down to 2.15Mt in August 2013 compared to 2.6Mt in the same month of the previous year.  Meanwhile, on a sequential basis, August sales fell by 17 per cent compared to July 2013 dispatches of 2.6Mt. In the first half of 2013 Moroccan cement sales fell 12.6 per cent YoY to 7.8Mt, although the pace of decline significantly eased in the second quarter, latest statistics from the Directorate of Studies and Planning of the country’s Ministry of Economy and Finance show. Ecuador cement sales rise over 12% YoY

Domestic cement sales in Ecuador climbed 12.1 per cent in July to reach 584,767t from 521,828t in the same month of the previous year, data from Instituto Ecuatoriano de Cemento (INECYC) shows. For January-July 2013 period, accumulated cement sales totalled 3,692,072t, a 12.6 per cent rise on the 3,279,812t registered in the same period of last year.

Brazil's monthly cement sales up 4.4%

Brazilian cement sales in during July increased by 4.4 per cent YoY to 6.2Mt, latest data from Sindicato Nacional da Indústria do Cimento shows. During the January-July 2013 period, local sales edged ahead on the same period of last year by two per cent to reach 39.9Mt. For the rolling 12 months between August 2012 to July 2013, sales were 69.2Mt, a 2.9 per cent advance on the corresponding period of the previous year (August 2011-July 2012).

Pakistan July dispatches decline

Pakistan reported a decline in dispatches for the first month of fiscal FY13-14 as the pace of construction slowed due to monsoon rains and Ramadan. During July 2013 (the first month of FY13-14), local cement sales fell 10.43 per cent YoY to 1.846Mt compared to 2.060Mt in July 2012. Ecuador enjoys 13% YoY increase in 1H13 sales

Ecuador’s cement producers delivered 523,525t of cement to the domestic market in June, representing a 6.4 per cent YoY rise and a 4.2 per cent MoM increase. In May cement sales reached 553,278t. According to data from local cement association Inecyc, the Jan-Jun 2013 period, total sales increased by 12.7 per cent to 3,107,306t from 2,779,812t in the equivalent period of 2012.

Ahangarancement increases 1H13 output and shipments, Uzbekistan

Ahangarancement, part of the Eurocement Group of Russia, produced 565,200t of clinker and 739,500t of cement in the first half of 2013, representing a YoY rise of 12.8 per cent and 1.4 per cent. Brazil’s first half-sales edge ahead

Brazilian cement sales in the first half of 2013 rose 1.6 per cent to 33.6Mt, latest data from local association Sindicato Nacional da Indústria do Cimento shows. In June 2013, sales reached 5.5Mt, representing a rise of three per cent compared to the same month of last year. Cumulative sales for the 12 months between July 2012 and June 2013 reached 68.9Mt, representing a growth of 3.2 per cent over the previous period (July 2011-June 2012).
