Full-year Saudi cement sales rise 4%

Cement sales in Saudi Arabia increased by four per cent in 2013 to 55.6Mt compared to 53.5Mt in 2012, a report released by local producer Yamama Cement Co has revealed. However a six per cent YoY decline was recorded in December to 4.79Mt, with all but four cement companies reporting a drop in sales. Vietnam cement sales exceed annual target

Vietnam cement sales climbed by 13.9 per cent YoY in 2013, exceeding the full-year target by 7.5 per cent, according to the Ministry of Construction (MoC). Latest figures by the MoC show that sales reached 61Mt for the year, including 47Mt of domestic dispatches (up 3.4 per cent YoY) and 14Mt of exports (up by 6Mt). Argentina reports annual consumption gains

Cement consumption in Argentina increased by 16.1 per cent YoY in December to reach 914,964t, latest data from industry association AFCP shows. However, despite the annual increase, the December 2013 figure was 12.6 per cent lower compared to demand in November 2013. Portland cement shipments by the domestic industry (including exports) were 927,964t in December 2013, also down 12.6 per cent from November's figures, but 14.7 per cent higher YoY.

Pakistan first-half cement sales edge ahead

Pakistan’s cement sales in the first half of fiscal FY14 edged ahead by 1.8 per cent with a long-awaited pick-up in exports recorded in December, latest data from industry association APCMA shows. Ecuador cement sales over the January-November 2013 period increased by 9.8 per cent to 6.043Mt, latest data from industry association Inecyc shows. During November 2013 sales were 594,814t, a 5.9 per cent increase on the 561,534t recorded in the same period of last year. However, dispatches were down on a MoM basis, compared to the 611,987t recorded in October 2013.

Pakistan: quarterly gains expected

Pakistan cement dispatches during the second quarter of the current fiscal are expected to have increased by 5.13 per cent on a QoQ basis to 8.2Mt compared to 7.8Mt in the first three months of the year. Saudi cement sales fell 17 per cent in November 2013 to 3.65Mt compared to 4.37Mt in the same period in 2012. All companies reported a decline in sales with the exception of Northern Province Cement, Arabian Cement and Madinah Cement which saw increases of 58, 24 and 20 per cent, respectively, the report, based on data released by Yamamah Cement Company (YCC), said. Ecuador cement sales continued their upward trend in November, rising by 5.9 per cent YoY, latest statistics from local cement association, Inecyc, show. During November 2013 sales reached 594,814t compared to 561,534t in the same month of 2012. For the year to-date, sales were ahead by 9.8 per cent reaching 6.043Mt over Jan-November 2013, against the 5.504Mt recorded in the comparative period of last year.

Poland's monthly cement output rises 13.1% YoY

Poland reported a double-digit rise in cement production during November 2013. However, cement sales slipped marginally during the month. November cement output totalled 1.291Mt, up by 13.1 per cent YoY, according to the country’s cement association, SPC. Cement sales, meanwhile, fell by 2.2 per cent to 1.204Mt. For the 11 months to November 2013, cement output declined by 9.5 per cent to 13.606Mt, while sales dropped by 10.5 per cent to 13.867Mt.  

Argentina’s cement market expands 9.1% YoY

Argentina’s cement plants shipped 1,062,099t of cement, including exports, in November 2013, a MoM decline of 7.8 per cent but a YoY rise of 8.1 per cent. The domestic market absorbed around 1,046,486t, both from domestic and overseas producers – some 7.9 per cent less than October 2013. However, when compared with November last year, sales expanded by 9.1 per cent.
