Gazakh Cement Plant plans to significantly increase export sales from Azerbaijan to neighbouring countries such as Georgia in 2020, according to Trend. Raysut Cement's UAE subsidiary, Pioneer Cement, has signed an agreement for the development of a limestone mine in Georgia. Under the 10-year deal SFL International will pay a royalty to Pioneer Cement for mining the limestone deposits. Pioneer Cement owns the concession to limestone mines in Georgia where it is currently set to construct a 1.2Mta cement plant. The plant will be located near Tbilisi, adjacent to the limestone mines. Azerbaijan’s Gazakh cement plant exported about 253,000t of clinker to Georgia in January-August 2019, according to Turan. The average export value of Azerbaijani clinker to Georgia has amounted to US$37.48/t so far this year. A total of 15 out of 29 cement types in Georgia checked for quality meet the European EN197-1 standard, according to the Georgian Cement Association.
