Lafarge Algeria, part of the Holcim group, has exported 2Mta of cement and clinker for the first time, according to a company press release. The company achieved the volume less than five years after the start of cement exports from Algeria. Lafarge-Algérie's Oggaz cement plant increased its cement output by 10 per cent in the last quarter to meet the country’s growing cement demand, according to plant manager, Jean-Louis Sibiede. Lafarge Algeria is preparing to export grey clinker from its local plants from 2018. The group already exports white cement from its Oggaz plants in the Mascara wilaya. Lafarge Algeria and Souakri’s joint venture, the 2.7Mta Biskra cement works, will enter into production in 2016, a group official said on Tuesday.
